Android geeks owning a Qmobile Noir A8 have been craving for an update, which will breathe a new life in their phone, although there are few roms to try out but they don't stand up to that standard. Some Paki developers have taken part
in tweaking ICS and releasing customs roms but those attempts weren’t
satisfying in terms of performance, battery and memory
consumption of the device. And though Qmobile officially released Jelly Bean and some people upgraded their phones from ICS to JB but there were lots of bugs in that release. A lot of people complaint about very thin battery life and fast battery drain which can’t be tolerated.

We set out on a mission to release a JB rom which not only addresses the battery issue but
also brings other fixes to the problems that were reported by those early
upgraders and by the grace of Almighty Allah, we have been successful in our
mission. WinGoku’s Jelly Bean rom addresses following issues :
- Short battery life.
- High memory consumption.
- Battery and memory leaks while phone is in sleep mode.
- Clear sound/music output from speakers/headset.
- Screen tearing.
- Better GPS lock.
The tweaks
and stuff we added in this rom:
- Bravia Engine for sharp and crisp display.
- Memory optimization scripts.
- 55% improvement in Battery life compared to stock rom.
- Improved image quality.
- Replaced Stock launcher with Nova Launcher.
- Replaced Stock web browser with Dolphin Browser.
- Removed bloatware.
- Fast boot compared to stock JB.

Proceed At Your Own Risk. WinGoku won't be responsible for any thing.
Pre-Requisites:
- You must be rooted in order to flash this rom.
- You must have CWM installed.
Once you are rooted and installed CWM recovery, proceed to following
steps.
Installation Method:
- Download WinGoku’s JB rom from here.
- Put the the downloaded zip in SD card. DO NOT EXTRACT IT.
- Power off the phone and boot in to recovery mode by pressing power button and volume up.
- Wipe factory reset.
- Wipe cache.
- Go to Advanced > Wipe Delvik cache.
- Go back.
- Install from SD card.
- Choose from SD and select the downloaded zip file. Click yes.
- Rom will be flashed and phone will reboot automatically.
- Voila! You have installed WinGoku’s Battery friendly JB rom.
OBSERVATIONS:
Our tweaked rom has 55-60% improved battery life.
If you want to bump up this percentage more, you can select power saving>Long standby from Notification shade. This doesn’t has any impact on performance.

ReplyDeleteWell there a lot of customization which require the rom to be deodexed. How ever if you rom is odexed, you might be restricted to apply some tweaks or scripts or ported apps. So this barrier is lifted if the rom is deodexed.

i downloaded it two days ago. It does not show all alphabets in the right side of CONTACTS app and showing other symbols as well

DeleteIn contacts those alphabets are Russian that is because we have ported this rom from Fly Q441. Rest of the English characters are also there. For confirmation that the right language is select on your phone, go to Settings>Language and Input > Select English.
DeleteNo one has reported reboot issue. It might be caused because of some 3rd party app you have installed. We have optimized our Jelly Bean rom for best battery and gaming performance.
I am getting almost 1 and half day out of it. Although it depends on your use but for normal usage like Calling, messaging it will give you more than a day but with gaming and music it will give you a almost a day backup.

ReplyDeleteNova launcher is the best so far interms of memory and battery consumption. Although there is no need of task killer because android handle memory itself. Basically android loads (caches) most frequently used apps in memory (ram) so that when you launch those apps, they open faster, if you remove those cached apps from ram, you will get 200+ MB of free memory. BTW you can All in one tool box for freeing up ram taken by the processes .
Deletehello admin.. the battery time is reduced to 16 hours from more than 30 hours and moreover you jelly bean rom heats up the mobile phone.. you can feel the heat on the back side of the mobile..
ReplyDeleteFarooq Battery timing solely depends on your use. If you are playing games, listening to music, making calls, surfing the web, using wifi then it obvious that your battery will discharge quickly and will cause overheating. there can be alot of other reasons about the battery timing, first and the most common one is you might have installed a task killer app which constantly runs in background and consumps alot of cpu power and hence cause faster battery discharge and overheating because cpu is constantly in use !. Uninstall those apps and use All in one tool box if you want a task killer app. Second, your battery condition might not be very good. It is the same as your laptop battery backup time reduces after a few months.

ReplyDeleteI was wondering though, can we somehow get Cyanogen Mod on Noir phones? If my understanding is right, if CM devs make even one ROM for Qmobile or other equivalents in other countries, we can easily port it to all the other Q phones. What do you say?
CM can't be ported to mtk phones unless the folks responsible for CM port it to MTK phones. For running CM on mtk phones, you have to have a kernel compatible with CM, which so far no has been successful to produce. Lets hope CM teams releases cm for mtk phones too.

Nathan can you please link us to the page where CM devs are confirming their intentions of making a CM rom for noir phones because last time we checked, we didn't came across such news. BTW what kind of rom are you releasing. and what happend to that script 4cycleturbo which you were installing?

Bro why are you comparing battery life of ICS with JB. In JB every thing is rendered with GPU,every thing is hardware accelerated thats why JB is smoother than ICS. thats why JB has more battery drain as compared to ICS.
DeleteIf you want smoothness + good battery life for JB rom, then use our rom. If you want ICS battery life on JB , then make yourself a rom cuz even google accepts that phones with JB have thin battery life compared to the battery life of phones with ICS.

ReplyDeleteGood luck. Most of the tweaks you are mentioning are already there in WinGoku's rom except for extra themes and 3rd party apps. Thats why we say our rom is bloatware free thus it provides great performance with out memory issues.

ReplyDeleteBro this problem hasn't been reported by any one. Have you changed flash mode from auto to ON? If the problem still persists, then reflash the rom, you might have installed an app which is causing this issue, or you may have downloaded a virus/malware with an app. There can be many possibilities because we didn't face such issue in testing this rom.

Nice trick for cpu but there is no need of underclocking the cpu. As its summer time, even with simple use ur phone may get hot. Besides this try to avoid useless softwares like task killers nd battery moniters they are the biggest nd most common cause of battery drain.

ReplyDeleteJelly Bean shouldn't lag. Yes you can make swap partitions but for that you have to have a hefty space memory card. I don't advice you to play with partitioning of the phone. It is very risky!

DeleteYou can increase ram but it will reduce your phone's performance to an extent where you would like to throw your phone away. If you have top notch card with 100MB+ reading and writing speeds then you may look into increasing the ram.

Deleteno, it's not giving any error. after installing and entering login credentials it keeps showing "loging in". it doesn't go ahead from this point.
DeleteThen it is not rom's issue. I have used skype on it, didn't face any issue. May be something is wrong with your account/internet. Other reason could be, malware downloaded with an app, antivirus keeping skype app to connect, blocked account.

DeleteI am not a Skype user, but could not log in too, but Google Hangouts is working fine. Rest I am enjoying this rom. It's smooth as butter and swift too.
ReplyDeleteWell I am unaware of such issue cuz the last time I used skype on my phone, it worked fine. May be its something related with android and skype servers the same way these days Google Play keeps giving the error of invalid package file on almost all brand phones.

DeleteReboot in recovery mode and clear cache and Dalvik cache both. Restart the phone. Your problem should be gone. I think it's caused by OS and its routings glitch.

ReplyDeleteWell I don't use Nimbuz. The scenario you are explaining clearly states that this app may not be compatible with JB for MTK series phones.

ReplyDeleteFirst of all battery life solely depends on your usage, battery condition and how you use your phone. If you use your phone for surfing web, using skype, twitter, facebook etc your battery may deplete quickly. If you use it for calling and messaging, the battery may last for 2 days or more depending on battery capacity. Besides JB is completly rendered on GPU so it will have less battery life compared to GB and ICS. So if you want to have smooth and silky experience install JB otherwise stick to your current rom.

If you are using custom rom and phone heats with up normal usage like calling, texting etc (no gaming or surfing web via browser) than it's better you quickly install official rom otherwise, it may result in sever damage to hardware!

as I stated above that i have to delete some unwanted stuff from my rooted Qmobile noir A8. The problem came to me when i was going to Port WINGOKU ROM (battery friendly jelly bean) on my device it did not work on my device and CMW (clock work mod recovery) says Installation aborted. When i restored my device with its own stock ICS Rom it works fine but first start up picture was Replaced with WINGOKU's ROM. when i switched off my device during charging it turns off and the charging battery state was also replaced or changed with WINGOKU's ROM. NOW i need Qmobile Noir A8 Original First startup picture and the turned off mobiles Charging battery status. I tried myself but i did not get my Goal.
so finally i decided to get help from any Developers Blog or website and i found your Blog.
if there is any possibility to solve my problem then please help me.

There is only one problem WIFI with Google account is not working it shows an error. I have replaced my ICS stock rom but still it is not working with Google account and i can not use Playstore app. Please help me i want to use JB that you have created for all of A8 users. DeleteHahahaha :D He wants to say that he is not able to use it! Brother, you should know, by the grace of the Mighty Rehman Malik, Google is blocked as per blockage of YouTube! You are not able to use Play Store, Google Account. You might need to use some proxy!

I have replaced the google services and playstore app with latest version but still not working. please do something for me and others who are facing the same problem.

Deleteproblem comes with almost all 3d games , such as mega run, dead trigger and asphalt etc, i have seen this problem with 4.1.1 original software also , but my main problem is , skype is not working with this rom , i am using it for months , room is best in its field, well modified, biggest problem is skype, calling issue, i know software designer like you will solve this problem in seconds, i have found a solution but it wastes 20 percent of battery, skype 3.2.0 works but one time only after that it never sign in, all you have to do is to restart the phone, newer version , sign ins but many times with difficulty with log in error, and then calling issue, it never sends voice to other end, yeah one more error frequently in play store, it gives error 491, it has a solution, but same it comes up with loss of battery, battery consumption is high, but i am use to coz of iPhone !!! at the end of the day, great software, i will keep on advising you for the betterment of the best software i have seen till now for 4.1.1 !!!
DeleteI have mentioned this before, anyway I repeat this again: This is not the rom's problem, it is the problem with skype app. Alot of people have faced the same issue on jelly bean 4.1.x . This isn't related to the phone brand or my rom. this problem is because of Google's jb OS incompatiblity with skype. Unless Google releases some solution, we can't solve this problem.

Well bro i mentioned that i know that problem, but you didnt answered my main question with crashing apps after some time !! And games , i mean 3d games, now my google crome crashed when i was texting you !!!it finishes with restart of cell phone !! No error comes just app closes !!
DeleteCrashing of app has a few reasons, the most commons ones are virus/malware or low memory. Browsers tend to crash if you have opened sites which load alot of data in ram of the phone like youtube, facebook (generally sites with lots of images or videos). Besides Chrome has a very dark background in android world, it has set its reputation in crashing/hanging thats why I set Dolphin as the default browser.
DeleteIf you have malware in your phone, install Avast antivirus with updated virus definitions.
Kindly don't think your phone as a high end phone, consider it as core 2 duo with 1 GB ram which is running Windows 7 (memory hog OS), so be gentle when you are using apps on your phone.
These steps will most likely solve your problems. If the problems still persist, flash a fresh copy of the rom and install avast antivirus from the begining before installing any other apps.

you are right with this, well my phone has not ny malwares, i got u when its memory endup , it crashes apps, i am using your rom for a month, it is working flawlessly, all i want is to change my boot screen splash screen, please guide me with the procedure !!

Now is it possible to revert back to my stock rom if im not happy with CWM/your rom? How to revert back to stock recovery?
(I do have the required files like stock rom, flash tool etc)
What do you mean by "Excessive Bloatware"? This rom is clean of all the bloatware, the remaining apps are essential for the rom to perform properly. Besides it has far less apps than the stock ICS rom by Qmobile.

I have used this rom for about 2 days, no doubt this is an excellent built with no bugs and runs smoothly, i would really like to keep this rom but the only issue is that it heats your phone even on normal usage. I do not play games on my phone but whenever i use whatsapp the phone gets heat. :-( please fix this as soon as possible.
ReplyDeleteYou can use Antutu CPU master to lower the CPU clock speeds. I suggest you to set the clock speeds to 900 MHZ. This should solve your problem.

JUST installed checking seems really awsum rom, cant say about battery will inform till tomorow but everything is working excellent UI and customization options, when the installation was going on at end there was a message installing kernel what is that, will it effect on restoring the backup? or its nothing can restore backup whenever i want? please elaborate this point becauze u know already kernel is linked with the hardware i was just confused. Please do tel me can i restore I am not gona resture until and unles m gona check ur rom fully if it wil be as I m wondering i may not switch on stock rom again till i have the phone
